Think before you move

Cedar Shoals economics teacher Robert Chatmon has his room open to students after school to play chess, listen to financial podcasts, or work on homework. Chatmon was inspired to begin Cedar’s chess group after meeting the founders of Chess and Community in Athens, Georgia, and learning about how they apply the lessons of chess to everyday life. He applies Chess and Community’s motto “Think before you move” to how he plays chess and teaches the game to students. Video by Melanie Frick and Lilly McGreevy.
