Jags drop to 0-4 with home loss to Morgan County

In what was supposed to be the homecoming game on Sept. 13, the Morgan County Bulldogs outscored Cedar Shoals 41-19 at home in Waters-Wilkins Stadium.

The Jaguars offense finally showed how they play ball by scoring three touchdowns. However, the Jags’ defense was not as successful. Morgan County slipped their way through the Jaguars defense, shredding them with long touchdown receptions and runs.

The first Jaguar touchdown came from senior running back Taiwan Green, who rushed for a 4-yards into the end zone.

“The offensive line played better last week. However, we still got a lot of room to improve,” head coach Leroy Ryals said.

Following Green, junior wide receiver Dorian Thrasher caught a 4-yard touchdown reception in the third quarter. Finally, sophomore wide receiver Elpacio Lattimore answered the call by scoring on a 16-yard touchdown reception. Unfortunately, the Jags didn’t have enough time to close the gap, partially due to the running clock rule in the second half since the Bulldogs were leading by30 points at half time.

For Morgan County, senior wide receiver Jaylen Elder, scored the majority of the points for the team. With his fast thinking and agility, the Jags couldn’t catch up to him. Junior running back Christian Monfort scored two touchdowns, backing up Elder when he couldn’t get to the ball.

The Jags’ next game is Sept. 20 at home against Walnut Grove. Walnut Grove is currently 3-1. The tickets are on GoFan for $8.
