Jimmy Kimmel Live pulled off air
“Jimmy Kimmel Live” has been pulled off the air after host Jimmy Kimmel made comments regarding the main suspect behind the murder of Charlie Kirk. On Sept. 15, Kimmel claimed that many followers of the MAGA movement were using the death of Kirk to spread their own agendas and said the shooter was “one of their own.” The abrupt decision was made by the show’s parent company ABC after backlash from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

Nepal Prime Minister resigns, interim Prime Minister elected
Khadga Prasad Sharma Oli, the Prime Minister of Nepal, resigned on Sept. 9 after days of anti-corruption protests. These protests began after the country banned multiple social media platforms, which culminated in violent objections against censorship and corruption that led to the country’s parliament building being stormed and burned down. The group Hami Nepal, which helped organize the protests, elected Sushila Karki as the interim prime minister until the next elections take place in March.

Possible biosignatures found on mars
NASA has announced that its Perseverance rover – launched in 2020 with the goal of studying the environment of Mars and looking for any possible signs of life – discovered possible signs of biosignatures on a rock on Mars. The rock has multiple spots on it that are similar to biosignatures left by microbial life on Earth. The rocks will be further studied to see if these signatures are actual signs of life.

Israel launches ground offensive on Gaza City
The Israeli Defense Force (IDF) began a ground offensive in Gaza City. This comes as a United Nations commission declared that Israel is committing genocide on Palastinians within the Gaza Strip. These actions have drawn controversy and criticism of the Israeli military as thousands have fled to more southern regions and countries to escape the war.

Trump travels to England for a state visit
President Donald Trump traveled to England for a state visit. During the visit he discussed relations between the U.S. and the U.K. with multiple heads of state, including King Charles III. The visit was met with multiple protests and controversies, including one where a picture of Trump and Jeffery Epstein was projected onto Windsor Castle.
