I have the HOTS for you: Jittery Joe’s Lovebomb Latte review

Jittery Joes’ Valentine’s Day-themed Lovebomb latte has joined the Watkinsville location’s menu for this February. A mix of classic mocha and strawberry flavor syrup that can be hot or iced, the grand total for the latte, 12 ounces and iced, runs $6.10, and this price only gets steeper with larger sizes.

If you’re not a fan of coffee’s strong flavor and bitterness, this may be a good option. The surplus of chocolate syrup combined with the bright sweetness of the artificial-tasting strawberry flavoring makes for an incredibly sugary taste. These overpowering flavors leave the Jittery Joe’s signature blend coffee to only have a faint initial bitterness and nutty aftertaste. Although chocolate is the dominant flavor in this latte, the strawberry flavor balances well with it, adding a hint of fruity aftertaste. Rather than competing with each other, these two flavors compliment each other perfectly.

The latte’s main drawback is the overwhelming amount of chocolate flavoring in its small size. If not stirred often, it accumulates towards the bottom of the drink. This also makes the texture slightly gritty. The price is also rather high for such a small amount of coffee and a lack of quality syrups. With the iced version you get even less, however, the ice helps water down the thickness.

Although the texture and lack of coffee taste can be a letdown, the strawberry and chocolate flavors harmonize. The Lovebomb latte serves as a fun and festive treat, but it’s definitely not an everyday purchase.
