In English department chair’s Tara Stuart’s Li In English department chair’s Tara Stuart’s Lit/Comp III class, students are studying rhetorical appeals and making commercials to put the techniques into action. Stuart says activities like these can bring the things they learned into class into creative activities.

“There has to be a time and place for both fun and traditional type education. If all we do is write essays and things like that, then I lose a lot of kids. Doing activities like this gets them engaged and then they know that sometimes we’re going to have to do work that is maybe a little bit more boring,” Stuart said.

The BluePrints staff has been working hard for the The BluePrints staff has been working hard for the first week of school. New members have been collaborating with experienced staffers to learn more about writing articles. Additionally, the staff focused on what makes a story newsworthy by analyzing previous articles and discussing the strengths and weaknesses. The staff ended the week by taking press badge photos and completing a staff information survey.

“My first week on the staff was great. The staff was super friendly, inviting, and smart. They did a great job at introducing the concept of the class to us newcomers. I am excited for the weeks to come, knowing that the people I work with are just as excited about this year as I am,” first year journalism student Avery Lewis said.

At an assembly Thursday morning, Cedar Shoals High At an assembly Thursday morning, Cedar Shoals High School seniors learned that each 2025-26 senior graduating from one of the three Clarke County high schools will receive a $1,000 investment portfolio. The program is offered through nonprofit organizations Gifted Savings and TED-Ed.

According to a Clarke County School District press release, an anonymous donor provided $1.2 million in funding, and CCSD is the first public school system in the country to apply the program districtwide. Students will complete modules during weekly advisement sessions to learn about financial literacy. At the end of the year, students will be invited to share their experiences at a TEDx speaking event.
