The Cedar Shoals varsity tennis team battled the E

The Cedar Shoals varsity tennis team battled the East Forsyth Broncos in their second home region match on Mar. 13. The boys team fought hard but were defeated 1-4 and the girls suffered a loss of 0-5. Boys captain senior doubles one member, Spencer Waldroup, was proud of how his team played through the loss and how much they have grown.

“The team played just how they should’ve today; they played hard and had fun while doing it. I’m proud of how crazy good everyone has gotten, especially for this only being the 1st or 2nd season for most of them. We are getting exponentially better by the match,” Waldroup said.

From March 7-9, our staff attended the 2025 Southe

From March 7-9, our staff attended the 2025 Southern Interscholastic Press Association (SIPA) conference in Columbia, SC. Students participated in on-site competitions, workshops, and competed in the quiz bowl. The Cedar BluePrints website was given the highest ranking of All-Southern, and was also a first-time recipient of the Scroggins Award, which is awarded to the best publications of the south.

Last week, Cedar Shoals Model UN went on an overni

Last week, Cedar Shoals Model UN went on an overnight trip to St. Simons Island to attend the Youth in Government Expo, where students participated in simulations of how they would handle crises and proposed resolutions.

“We represented Romania,” senior Semuel Pez said. “Our resolution was banning adult content in Romania because there's a lot of human trafficking, especially in that industry.”

Freshman Maricela Eugenio-Navarrete highlighted how the convention helped her become a better speaker.

“It helps me prepare for what I want to do when I'm older which, is being a lawyer,” Eugenio-Navarrete said. “The experience could help prepare me for that because it makes you become a better speaker. At the beginning we had to introduce ourselves and our country and sometimes you have to ask questions and go up and speak.”

The Cedar Shoals varsity tennis team battled the North Oconee Titans in their first home region match on Mar. 4. The boys team fought hard but were defeated 0-5. The girls also suffered a loss of 0-5. Senior doubles one member, Chris Kulik, was proud of his team despite the loss.

“The team did really well and I am proud of them despite the score. The team did well in keeping their spirits up and not getting bummed out about what the score was but just focusing on the point they were playing,” Kulik said.

The Cedar Shoals varsity girls and boys soccer tea

The Cedar Shoals varsity girls and boys soccer teams hosted youth night on Feb. 28 against Eastside High School. The girls bested 4-3 while the boys suffered a tough loss 5-1. During youth night, K-8 students were admitted for free and encouraged to wear a soccer jersey. The event was advertised through social media by the Youth Development Initiative and Hilsman Middle School. By Katie Kulik.
